Privacy Policy
The Short Version: DeepNode Copy does not collect, transmit, store, or sell any of your personal data, file contents, file names, directory structures, or metadata. Everything stays 100% on your local machine.
1. No Data Collection
DeepNode Copy is built on the principle of absolute privacy. When you copy, move, or verify files:
- No file paths, hashes, or transfer logs are ever uploaded to any server.
- No analytics or advertising IDs are attached to your application instance.
- No user accounts, registrations, or logins are required or implemented.
2. Network Access and In-App Updater
The desktop application connects to the network solely for:
- Checking for Updates: If triggered, DeepNode Copy makes an HTTPS GET request to GitHub's public API (`https://api.github.com/repos/deepnodestudios/deepnode-copy/releases/latest`) to check for newer version tags. Only the HTTP request headers required by GitHub are transmitted; no personal data or usage metrics are included.
- Downloading Updates: If you choose to update, the new setup binary is fetched directly from GitHub Releases servers.
3. Local Storage and Settings
Application preferences (such as your chosen interface language, theme preference, buffer sizing, and default conflict resolution policy) are saved locally on your computer in your local configuration storage (`%APPDATA%` or Windows Registry). They are never synced across the cloud.
4. Open Source Transparency
DeepNode Copy is open source. You can inspect the entire Rust and React codebase at github.com/deepnodestudios/deepnode-copy to verify all security and network behavior yourself.
5. Changes and Contact
If our privacy practices ever change, this policy will be updated immediately. If you have questions, contact us at [email protected].
